I believe everyone has an innate capacity to heal and change.
Access to this healing is sometimes blocked when there is a need to adapt and survive traumatic, difficult or overwhelming experiences. Perhaps it is something that happened in childhood, or over a period of time, or is a single incident that occurred more recently.
Keeping the whole mind/body system at the center of our work, I facilitate an understanding of these patterns and connect clients to their internal strengths and resources. By building a more resilient container there is more capacity to approach and clear more difficult emotional issues. Our goal together is to foster growth and a more compassionate self. With new insights, each person is freer to unhook negative and maladaptive patterns and feel more regulated. Clients are more able to transform their lives, build resiliency and create pathways to greater fulfillment and health. |
When this happens, our nervous system goes on overload and it feels like a glass that is too full. As things overflow, our access to our own resources is diminished and we may experience:
While these adaptations stem from our efforts to manage the feelings, they may repeatedly get in the way of feeling better. I integrate a number of somatic- and insight-oriented approaches in my work, including Somatic Experiencing, Hypnotherapy and EMDR.
