Somatic Experiencing
Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a body-centered approach to healing the stored effects of trauma. Developed by Dr. Peter Levine, SE seeks to return the mind/body system to a regulated state after the overwhelming experience of life threats. SE works with the physical sensations that underlie emotions to allow the body to resolve and release the held responses to traumatic experiences. Using tracking and body awareness, the therapist and client work together to enable the nervous system to return to its natural balanced state.
